Heather Armstrong
I AM A CONNECTOR.
It took me many years to understand how to turn this into a career and helping others. I now understand that my unique combination of skills, talents and values can intersect to help guide others to work that they love. I love to use my connector super power to inspire this same clarity in others. I love to watch as they discover their unique value and take the steps earlier in life to design a career that brings them peace and joy instead of stress and survival. We spend so many hours at work and it changes your entire life to feel energized instead of burned out.
I wish I would have discovered Dr. Harkness’ program so much earlier in life so that I could have loved my work earlier in life.

My Story
How I Got Started
After 20 successful years in marketing/advertising, I still felt lost in my career. I eventually took a leap and left my career to find what was next for me.
I had the traditional story of falling into one job after the next and I had no idea that you could design your career or that career counseling even existed. I had to lay off many people in my line of work and each time I worked hard to help my co-workers transition to something that allowed them to shine, usually in a completely different industry.
As a CEO, I was passionate about looking at my organizational management and molding job descriptions to allow my team to do more of what they loved to do. I have always known that encouraging others to be themselves first was the best way to define success both individually and as a team.
It turns out I had been doing this work long before I even knew it was my calling.
The day I met Dr. Helen Harkness, founder of Career Design, is a day that I will never forget. I felt as if I was meant to be right at her house in that exact moment in order to fulfill a dream. I now know why. I was meant to do this work. I am passionate about purpose. I am passionate about connecting people to their “why”! In marketing, I used to only apply this to companies and brands, but Helen’s in-depth researched methods now allow me to apply this to people. It is important to me to continue sharing her magic. I will never replace Helen but my goal is to keep her legacy alive through continuing Career Design with the same heart and passion that she has for helping individuals find their “why” and translating that meaning magnet and their success criteria info a fulfilling career path.
